Your path to a skilled trade starts here
Welcome to the Construction Resource Group, your gateway to a rewarding career in the trades. This page outlines the simple steps to join our pre-apprenticeship program, designed to equip you with the skills and confidence to succeed. We're committed to building a diverse workforce in Akron, Ohio, focusing on carpentry and expanding into other essential trades for women, veterans, justice-involved individuals, and underrepresented communities.

Are you ready to build your future?
To begin your journey with Construction Resource Group, first ensure you meet our program requirements:
- Be at least 16–25 years old.
- Have a high school diploma, GED, or be on track to earn one.
- Be physically able to participate in hands-on activities.
- Commit to early-morning or full-day training schedules.
We highly encourage women, veterans, justice-involved individuals, and members of underrepresented communities to apply. Once ready, submit your application form which includes contact information, education, work experience, and a brief statement on your career aspirations.

What happens after you apply?
After submitting your application, the next steps include attending an information session or orientation where you'll learn about the construction trades (starting with carpentry and expanding to electrical, HVAC, and plumbing), safety expectations (including required PPE), and attendance standards. We'll also explain how Construction Resource Group connects graduates to real apprenticeship openings.
Following this, you'll complete skills or aptitude assessments covering math (measurements, fractions, geometry), reading (for safety instructions and technical materials), and mechanical reasoning. These aren’t designed to eliminate you, but to help our instructors provide targeted support where you need it most.

Your interview: Show us your drive
The final stage involves an interview or intake meeting. This is your opportunity to showcase your:
- Willingness to learn and work hard.
- Genuine interest in a specific construction trade.
- Reliability, teamwork skills, and safety awareness.
- Ability to handle the demands of early mornings and physical work.
